When you make a donation of any amount, you are making it clear that you believe Jasper’s history matters. We should be able to see the faces, hear the voices, read the words, and touch the objects of those who shaped our community. That archaeological sites and the material culture of Indigenous peoples and early explorers need to be safeguarded. That artifacts must be preserved, research advanced, and our history shared through on-site exhibitions and exhibitions that travel far and wide.
The Jasper-Yellowhead Historical Society (JYHS) will be recognized by park residents and visitors as a dynamic, high profile, self-sufficient, community oriented organization. It will play a lead role in delivering effective, high quality programs, services and products about Jasper’s cultural history, particularly within a museum environment. On its own and in partnership with others, JYHS will be the community’s first choice for learning about the area’s past, for contributing artifacts and archival materials, and for choosing a credible, reliable partner to promote Jasper’s heritage values.
Planned giving is one of the more selfless acts you can do in your lifetime – and potentially one of the most rewarding. Your decision to donate helps us immensely.
Your generous help could work to ensure JYHS, with history now more than a century old, along with all the programs and facilities you’ve enjoyed in your own lifetime, can continue to exist for the use and enjoyment of future generations.
Acts of Planned Giving can take many forms, including gifts that benefit JYHS immediately or gifts that benefit JYHS in the future. In many cases, it may be possible for JYHS to leverage your generous gift into a matching government or corporate grant, meaning even the smallest gesture could take on much greater meaning.
The most common feature of gifts of this nature is they can be used by the JYHS immediately and might include cash, cheques, money orders, and drafts. You might even use pre-authorized monthly deposits to JYHS or turn to a one-time gift or, you might think of donating in memoriam for a passed loved one.
The gift of stocks and/or bonds can have certain tax advantages to the donor while the gift of property, including land, vehicles, etc, is also very helpful.
Gifts “In-Kind” can also be very beneficial in the present day for JYHS. These may include donating a prize to be given away at one of our special events, donating services that might be used within JYHS or given away as a prize, starting an employee/employer matching grant program benefiting JYHS, or offering employees paid time off to volunteer and holding a company event with proceeds donated to JYHS.
All of these ideas and more would be very helpful in our efforts to maintain or refurbish our facilities for continued use, as well as for further program development.

The mission of the Jasper-Yellowhead Historical Society is to provide the public with a better understanding of its collective heritage, history and diversity of cultures. Our Society can provide you with an interesting, worthwhile and gratifying opportunity. If you enjoy working with people and are looking to undertake a new activity, to either share your knowledge, expertise and experience or to be a witness to history, join our team and seize the opportunity to become a volunteer for the Jasper-Yellowhead Historical Society.
